Garmin Hong Kong City / Hiking Map
Hong Kong City Guide 2012 for Garmin GPS (Tourist Edition)

Abstract:
Hong Kong has been famous for its vibrant city lifestyle and an easy to reach countryside. Tourists come for leisure and hiking, unfortunately, either Garmin official or civilian map makers didn't release a good Garmin map for navigation purposes. Therefore we make our own Hong Kong City Guide 2012 for Garmin to cater their needs.

We hope you enjoy our map as much as we do, and please do not hesitate to let us know your thoughts and comments.

Key Features:
- Latest Hong Kong Base Map (Oct, 2012)
- Extensive metro/topographic data in Hong Kong

  1. Excellent detailed maps. Nice to have a topo map showing all the trails.

  2. Thanks for the topo map which i'd been looking for a long long time. Just one question, any way to use it in BaseCamp?

  3. To use the map in BaseCamp: get JaVaWa Device Manager from http://www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html. Put the map in your gps and connect it to the computer in mass storage mode. Run the JaVaWa program. Click on "manage maps" and highlight the map. Then click on the basecamp icon to make the map visible in BaseCamp. Essentially, it changes the Ms bit of the map from 1 to 0.

  5. A couple of comments.

First my Garmin doesn't have \Garmin folder. Can I just create it? Will the etrex find this OK?

Second, the file says it is .img but when I open it is is a .dif file and the only option provided is to burn to disc with Windows Disc Image Burner. Confused.

    Thanks.

  6. The map is absolutely rubbish, it runs slow and basically not workable on my Garmin Oregon 450!

  7. When I was in Hong Kong in March, I used the map on a Garmin Montana and it worked fine. The map was most useful for hiking, because it contained a lot of trails and contours information. In the build-up area, where contours are not as useful, you may find other road maps easier to read and more responsive.

  8. Would it be possible to have an .MP of the map? or alternately moving the contour info to a low zoom, in order to be performant?
The .MP would be wonderful, though!
    Thanks, Federico

  9. Another comment: on my COLORADO 300 the labels are hidden (no names of streets or villages) the pointer returns general elements type instead (street, building, main road). The map is great but like this I can't use it properly... Any tip?
    Thanks again, Federico

  13. Anyone looking for this file, I found it here: http://www.filecrop.com/82536876/index.html. By the way you should put up some way for people to contribute some kind of tip, I would be happy to, especially if it would mean you would be able to keep it updated semi-regularly.
